About the course

The Basic German Course (16 hours) is an intensive introduction to German for students with no previous knowledge who want a first structured approach to the language: correct pronunciation, essential vocabulary, building simple sentences and basic communication in everyday situations.

Because of its short length, the course takes a practical, functional approach: by the end you will be able to introduce yourself, understand frequent expressions and form basic sentences in German.

Unit 1 — Introduction to German

• The German alphabet
• Pronunciation (ä, ö, ü, ß)
• Formal and informal greetings
• Introducing yourself
• Personal pronouns
• The verb sein (to be)

Unit 2 — Personal information and surroundings

• Nationalities and countries
• Basic professions
• Numbers (0–100)
• Age
• The verb haben (to have)
• Basic questions (Wer? Was? Wo?)

Unit 3 — Sentence structure

• Basic word order: subject + verb + complement
• Definite and indefinite articles (der, die, das)
• Forming questions
• Negation with nicht and kein
• Regular verbs in the present tense

Unit 4 — Practical communication

• The family
• Days of the week
• Schedules and telling the time
• Simple everyday situations
• Useful expressions for travel
• Guided basic dialogues
